One Hundred Grand For PG Being Green ?

I don’t want to rain on the City's party for having won one hundred grand for the green award for the city of populations below 100,000.

I realize that we have done a very commendable job on water meters being self read, transit buses, bio diesel and an assortment of other things , but I for one would like to see us tackle a real issue and get an award for it, like for example , air quality.  We have studied the issue to death. The last report has been hidden from the public after we were told that one in five homes in PG was heated by wood and that is why we have an air quality problem. The problem as I saw it was that we used a company from Los Angeles to do the survey. Nothing like getting the straight goods close to home.

There has been enough studies on that issue to keep the city, "green” just burning up the paper, Oh I did say paper sorree... didn’t mean that.

We don’t recycle at the curb with our glass bottles, plastic etc. etc.; I don’t think we would have won an award for that.

Then there is my private soap box item the approaches into the city, some nice faller cut down the old MR PG wood signs a few years ago and they have been replaced with something that the boys had left over at the end of the day at Rolling Mix.

Yup we may have won the green award but I do hope that we haven’t invited the world to come to PG to see how we live that green image out. They may be surprised.

I’m Meisner and that’s one man’s opinion.

Hmmmm.... "water meters being self read"... what does this mean ?? What kind of water meters are these ???

Never ceases to amaze me just how negative Ben is. He says he's a champion for PG but can't even celebrate the small victories. Wars aren't won in a day...one small battle at a time.
I am with you Ben.
I am wondering how we are to address the air quality issue by laying on the residences of the city.
Just to pull a number out of the air, our homes and personal vehicles contribute about 30% of the carbon and particulates.
That would imply that the rest is coming from industry, pulp, mills, manufactureing et el.
My question is why is the 30% responsible for 100% of the efforts when the 60% (industry) is never mentioned?

Agree 100%. PG's approach to being "green" is like someone spending their time worrying about a broken finger, when their body is infested with cancer.
