The WinterLights Committee (in conjunction with the City of Prince George)  is making some cash available (up to $1500.00) for local community groups that take part  in the in the WinterLights celebration.   This is a national competition (call it the winter version of Communities in Bloom)  which encourages  communities to celebrate "light"  with decorative, cultural and spiritual programs.

The competition  is also meant to  boost  tourism opportunities and your pride in your community.

If you are interested in applying for a Community Enhancement Grant with a WinterLights focus, you have to  show you will be adding value to the City by  hosting an event or a visual display with a winter theme and that you will  pay half the cost.

The City  has some ideas  for projects:

Decorating a neighbourhood with a winter lights theme
o Window decorations in small businesses properties
o Special events organized around a winter theme
o Other ideas welcome!

Grant application deadline is 4:30 pm Friday, November 18th, 2005.

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO....CHRISTMAS LIGHTS...it IS BullS::T WINTERLIGHTS.. MERRY CHRISTMAS
Bingo Don. I was pleased to see you used the proper word for thr season, CHRISTMAS. It is becoming politically correct not to use this term for fear of offending non christians. Hey, it is our holiday and time of the year and it should be called Chritmas. Don, some people would have you say Seasonal Winter Lights instead of Christmas Lights.
