Where is everyone?

I was wondering if anyone has information regarding the vehicle/RCMP chase yesterday around 6pm on 20th Avenue. I drove by there and saw a truck in the middle of someone's front yard, with the tires flat and a few RCMP cars on site. Further down the road I saw pieces of tire scattered. Does this have anything to do with the murders or just another day in the "hood"?

Be careful driving out there all - black ice and frost! Was slippery this morning. My back tires slipped as I proceeded through an intersection from a complete stop. Currently 0C...brrrr!! Guess I have to dig out the winter clothes after all :(

Hmm, heard sirens yesterday but nothing else about it.

I am thankful for falling gas prices, my family & friends, Opinion250, my health, and my space heater :0P

I think people are rapidly losing interest in this site. The opinions of the little core group of Meisner accolytes are predictable & repetitive (not to mention the overall negative tone of the site as a whole). Besides,how many pieces on gas prices etc. does anyone need to read?

Just curious about the civic election site, there are supposed to be comments but there aren't any there. Last time I looked there wasn't a comment section.

I will never lose interest. I check this site several times each day. Great job Ben and the rest of the Opinion 250 staff :-)

I want to explain why there are no comments on the election page. Comments are not being allowed for a specific reason.

We want to prevent abuse by any candidate stacking the comments to support their cause, or to discredit others.

I hope you understand the need to be fair.

Same here! Just because one does not comment does not mean that one does not have an opinion or no interest in this site!

Something positive happened today:

Mr. Dion has a hearing problem - tinnitus or ringing in the ears, which can vary from day to day in severity and Mr. Dion therefore may not always readily hear the gist of a question, especially when it is asked in his second language. Mr. Harper's attack on Mr. Dion showed that I for one was positively correct in my assessment of Mr. Harper as having a cold, uncaring and bully mentality!

I guess people whose English is not as perfect as Mr. Harper's are somewhat unfit as human beings!

So much for being tolerant and encouraging bi-lingualism and the unity of the country!

I support bi-lingualism in Canada. Next time you are in Quebec see how much support there is there for the english language. I have a friend that moved to Montreal from Saskatchewan and married a Montrealer. He had to prove that he was born out of province so that his kids could attend an english first school. Does that sound like equal bilingualism across Canada to you? Shouldnt bilingualism in Canada go both ways?

Here's an open comment to some of you council hopefuls, many of whom have websites advetertised on this site.

I'd like to see more specifics and vision for PG.

One candidate has a website that's more of a page about her than her vision for PG. Another promises to support 'regional investment and economic diversity' to the city, but fails to mention how.

Come on candidates, your website is your presence. I don't want fluff, I want something more than a facebook page.

I spent a few days in Quebec on during a business trip. Wherever I went people communicated with me in English. My French is very basic.

Shopping, restaurants, hotels...asking directions on the street...no problem.

Absolutely. Many Canadians are trilingual or more.

If your looking for, "how too" ways to make PG a democracy again check Dan Rogers site. Hes not bashfull when it comes to tell us what he will do. He will make a great Mayor.

It is unfortunate that so many enter the race for a council seat but have no idea how it works. We should have legislation that restricts the number of candidates that can run in a civic election. The p[roblem is that the more new comers run for council the votes for them are split and the incumbents have much better oppertunity to be re-elected.

My point is how can someone like Basserman be elected and serve on council for 15 years. This guy should be in an old boys club.

It's been 8 years since I was last in Quebec City and Montreal but I had no problem then with communicating other than reading signs and my French is less than basic

Bridge, there is one way to avoid splitting the vote and allow the incumbants to be re-elected. It's called plumping and involves voting only for those candidates that you figure will do a good job. Nothing says you have to vote for a full slate of councillors. I'm going one step further and only voting for people who were not on council this term.

To be fair I think a lot of them are waiting until the federal election is over. There's so much confusion with signage, who's running for what, who they represent... let's give the municipal candidates a break and wait til after Tuesday

Not really a free for all topic, but anyone else having touble getting videos in youtube to run?. All I usually get is video no longer available. Checked all my settings but no improvement.

Canada in Afaghanstan (sic). There are some reporters and opposing politicians that wants make the subject of spending 18 billion dollars over in a desert half a world away into news.

this is my opinion. Its great that we as Canadians gets the opportunity to make this world a better place. Unlike our neighbors to the south. We are not trying to profit from our peace keeping efforts. The average canadian family has to pay $1500 for this effort, this is a bargin at $200 a year to try to make a difference in this world.

I think that the world watches and sees that we are good people, trying to make this a better world, where the strong can help the weak.

I as an average Canadian has it easy, we only have to pay out of our wallets. What about all those families in this country that has loved ones over there. Or worse yet the 99 families that lossed a love one in the fight for peace.

I am Canadian. and damn proud to be one.

My thoughts have always been that if you don't like the comments someone has made, or makes, then what keeps ya coming back? You have the right not to look, and I have a right to continue to enjoy this site.

seamutt, try to disable all web accelerators...i use to use Google web accelerator, Youtube stopped working (oddly enough Google OWNS Youtube), and i disabled the accelrator, boom, it works again!

For the life of me...I cannot figure out why "Death to Socialism" is even on this site...considering how much he/she complains about it. If he/she is losing interest in the site....or don't like it....they shouldn't visit...and try to spoil it for the rest of us. It's not rocket science!

Two spoilers, F & G, in the race between Z & R. The race between Z & R could be very close without F & G. With them, it is difficult to predict, even if one of them may only get a few hundred votes and the other one or two thousand. They might be centrist enough to take from both sides.
