Jay Hill  issued an audio  thank you ( click on photo above to hear it) to all who supported his campaign and who  once again  showed faith in his  representation.

He was one of three incumbents in the  central and northern ridings who  found the road to  victory  quickly and easily.

Cariboo Prince George Conservative, Dick Harris was also returned to office.  With the sounds of  "We are the Champions" blaring in the background,  Harris told reporters he didn't want to talk about minoriity or majority government, he just wanted to say thank you to his campaign team.

He did note however that the Harper  Conservatives had  made some gains.

When asked if  it was a waste of money to have spent $300 million on an election which  ended up with a minority government, Harris said absolutely not.

As for some of the opponents, it has been a learning experience.  This was the first mainstream  party election for Bev Collins, (at left)she says having a real election machine behind her was a very positive  feeling. As the NDP candidate in Cariboo Prince George,  she picked up about 26 % of the vote to  Harris's 55%.

Green Party Candidate  Hilary Crowley ( at right) says she was surprised at the  strength of the vote for Jay Hill,  It was her understanding there was some anger towards the Conservatives in the Prince George Peace River riding and she didn't expect the Tories to  come out so strong.  Still, she picked up about 10% of the votes in the riding, which is what she had hoped for.

Hill finished with  about 63% of the vote.

The preliminary results had the  Conservatives with 143 seats  ( 37.7% of popular vote) Liberals with 78 ( 26.3% popular vote)

Bloc Quebecois with 48 seats and 10.1% of popular vote,  the New Democrats with 37 seats and 18.1% of the popular vote,  and  independents taking two seats and 7.9% of the popular vote.

Now that Jay and Dick are back maybe they could change their mind and want an $10 hour min. wage for everyone.
Secondly, maybe one of them could venture to Mackenzie and see the lost of forestry jobs or are they only get in their cage and remain hidden for the next ?? years!!
Congratulations Opinion250, you have done a fantastic job again. While all the others suggested what a great job they would do on the local election coverage, 250 quietly went about delivering first class coverage beating everyone to the punch.
We now all know where to turn when you want the election results in this city.
Jay Hill is a squid. Whoever voted for this guy are also squids. I heard he has slick_rick on his team walking around handing out flyers at the local soup kitchen promising them more money when in reality its just another lie from these plugs. stay tuned for details.
