As expected Prince George City Council has approved the signing of the deal which will see gas tax funds flowing back to the community.

The formula for the sharing of the tax revenue  has Prince George  receiving $918,051.74 this year,  and $917,345.00 next year.  The amounts will be adjusted based on population  and by 2010 the cummulative total will be about $9 million dollars.

This is the "New Deals for Cities and Communities" struck between the Federal and Provincial government to help municipalities cope with infrastructure maintenance and repairs.

This is new money , and does not replace the  promised Federal-Provincial infrastructure funds.

Mayor Kinsley says he will follow up to see if  these  dollars can be used to deal with the Cameron Street bridge issue, as there is a category  allowing the funds to be used  for transportation enhancement.

Get a life Colin. I guess the Cameron street bridge is your ticket to re-election. Do you think that 20,000 votes will be enough? Remember that by the time the bridge is built the price tag could double but then youll have all the tax from gas to piddle away.
The idea of transportation enhancement would be to fill the pot holes in our streets today not X yeas hence.
