Our good old firemen!
That's why they get paid the big bucks.
Don't know about big bucks, Harbinger, having seen how hard they do work, I think it is safe to say they earn their wages. I for one couldn't do their job....I am one of the first ones gone when there is fire...terrifies me....So I am one of those who are thankful to have them here and well trained...
Actually I am glad we have all our emergency personel....
Those who have never been involved in emergency response situations really have no idea what the job entails. Every call is responding to somebody elses emergency.

There was a time when a firefighters pay was the same as a city bus driver. So, I'm not so sure where the big bucks come in either. Unless you have been on the job for 20 years or more and have been promoted to Captain, Assistant Chief or Deputy Chief. The pay goes along with the responsibilities and experience as well as years of service. I think they do an amazing job, in spite of the challenging conditions they work under.
