Prince George – Prince George Cougars captain Dana Tyrell will suit up for Canada at the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championship in Ottawa.
Tyrell went to the nation's capital Thursday to begin the national junior team selection camp, one of 38 players looking to earn a roster spot. The players took part in 3 intersquad games, with Tyrell playing for Team Red vs. Team White. On Saturday, Tyrell picked up an assist in the third period of a 7-2 victory for the Red squad, which won 2 of the 3 games. This morning, Tyrell was one of 22 players named to Team Canada's roster.
Tyrell becomes the first Prince George Cougar since defenseman Dan Hamuis in 2002 to represent Canada at the World Junior Championship.
