It's a film that's been described as a powerful and graphic look at homelessness in British Columbia.

The Way Home documents New Democrat M.L.A. David Chudnovsky's tour of B.C.  Chudnovsky talked with the homeless, front line workers, and government during his trip around the province.

Chudnovsky says he hopes the film will act as a wake up call to residents and government and stimulate discussion on a way to solve what he says is a crisis.

"We don't live in Bangladesh or Guatemala.  We live in British Columbia.  It's 2009 and somehow we have between 10,000 and 15,000 homeless people in our province.  That's an appalling number.  It's one that we want everyone to know and to understand and to be concerned about."

Chudnovsky says sometimes people think of homelessness as a Vancouver problem, but he says that's not the case.

"Every town and city across the province has a crisis of homelessness, including Prince George and in Vanderhoof, Burns Lake, Smithers, and Hazelton where I'll be later this week."

The film will be shown Monday night at 7 p.m. at UNBC's Weldwood Theatre.

There is to be one viewing of this film up at UNBC.

Now thats how you get the information out into the publics eye.

Make it hard for everyone to see it.

So to those that have no way of getting there to see this film.

Too bad so sad.
well, at least there is an effort.

Besides how else are they going to get it out there. True enough 70% of the audiance will be people that already know about the issues and the problems. But how else are they going to justify the cost of making this film, if they don't share it with the public that probably paid for it.

Its easy for all of us to say, if they weren't so lazy, or so stupid to get hooked on drugs they would not be in this situation. Well, the reality is. Sometimes they are victims that put them there. Lets say, if your a young girl being abused by the undereducated father figure. What else are you going to do but to leave this environment. Go to another city, no education, thus end up under the shroud of a pimp, end up selling their body for food and drugs. Try to get out of that, they have to move to another city. Still, your uneducated and entering your twenties. What are you going to do? no money, = no food and shelter = to homelessness.

Its not that they are all lazy, there is underlying mental health issues, which makes it difficult for them to have long term employment. 70 years ago, there always was work for people that just wanted to do repetitive, low skilled work. However with the increasing cost on labor, many things became automated. thus low skilled workers no longer can demand top wages for their menial work. Thus people with minor mental health issues could no longer find work in low skilled areas. Meaning that unless, you kept up with the times, you became jobless and homeless.

Its not only the successful people that has a story to tell.
