Prince George, B.C. - RCMP and emergency crews were called out to at least two motor vehicle crashes in the Prince George area this morning.  Constable Gary Godwin says a two vehicle crash at the intersection of North Nechako Road and Foothills  Boulevard at approximately 7:45 a.m sent  one person to hospital with injuries.

Godwin says police were called out to a location along Solitude Road shortly after 8 a.m. after three separate vehicles hit the ditch.  RCMP say a transport truck and two passenger vehicles left the road a few kilometres west of the intersection with Chief Lake Road.  There were no injuries.

RCMP are urging drivers to slow down and watch for black ice, especially during the morning commute.  Constable Gary Godwin says with the temperature fluctuating around the freezing mark, the roads can become extremely slick.  Godwin says all of this morning's incidents involved slippery roads.

"Godwin says all of this morning's incidents involved slippery roads."

He should have said...all of this morning's incidents involved drivers that were not paying attention to the job at hand while driving on slippery roads.

It's not the fault of the road these people drove off it.
I wonder if the highway plow trucks were using their blades today?

Yesterday I saw two trucks on Hwy 16 west that were just driving, not plowing or salt/sand/rocking the road.

I dont know about anywhere else in the city, but there was rather thick ice on my car this morning. People should know that when there is ice on the car there will be ice on the road.

Slow down! Pay attention!
Well, it was suspected that it would get icy. the wet slushy stuff last night a near freezing temp, I knew it was not going to be pretty scene in the morning. Most of us Northern Drivers are smart enough, its the inexperienced or new to the north drivers think that a 4 x4 will be Ok that creates a lot of the problems. Sure there are instances when it just does not matter what your in, or how safe you were driving, the vehicle sometimes slides off the road.
How about all these truckers and even city bus drivers talking on their cell phones...
Yeah! Slow down! Do 30-40k under the speed limit and watch in your mirror while everyone else drives off the road trying to avoid you. Scared sh*tless, stay home!
No doubt about it PG drivers in general are bad.
+1 acid
"No doubt about it PG drivers in general are bad."

I think that drivers everywhere are bad.
Look at what it takes to get a license, not much. At over 10,000 deaths a year on the roads, getting a license is a joke.
Getting a license is harder nowadays than it used to be. No matter how stringent you make the testing, people will get licenses and make poor decisions while driving.
Time for a mandatory winter tire law.
But sensible driving will prevent most incidents anyway.
metalman.
ICBC's biggest obstacle is trying to get people to pay attention to driving, while they are driving. No matter what type of vehicle they are driving or for whatever purpose. While driving, people tend to pay attention to anything but driving.

I think that explains it all.
