Prince George, B.C.- The Provincial Ministry of the Environment continues to investigate the chlorine dioixide spill that occurred between Canfor’s operations at P.G. Pulp and Intercontinental Pulp February 1st.
Conservation Officer Gary Van Spangen says although the spill of 14 thousand litres of solution did not cause any environmental damage, the Ministry of the Environment takes such incidents very seriously.
The clean up of the site was done quickly, and Canfor continues to look for the reason why a new section of pipeline failed.
Chlorine dioxide is a chemical used in bleaching wood pulp and is a severe irritant to the eyes and respiratory system.
