Prince George B.C.- The new Superintendent of the Prince George RCMP detachment says her priorities include focusing on downtown issues and   working on the reduction of organized crime.
Speaking on the Meisner program this morning on CFIS and on Opinion 250, Supt. Brenda Butterworth –Carr  says the police are just one component  in the clean up of downtown. “Certainly having more police presence in the downtown core, but this has to be a more holistic approach.”  With that in mind she says she is looking forward to working on the City’s task force on homelessness.
Buterworth-Carr says the detachment will continue on its crime reduction plan with a focus on auto theft, and break and enters, two of the highest numbers of crime in Prince George.
The focus on organized crime will continue as efforts continue to rid the city of four gangs. The addition of the 16 member unit announced by the Province on Friday   will augment work already being done within the detachment.

Good luck.
I heard that the cops ( here, or in Vanc. not sure ) are asking businesses to deny service to gang members. If that is a true statement, it sure is not the most intelligent request ever made. Have the rcmp ever heard of this word: r-e-t-r-i-b-u-t-i-o-n ? Will the justice system allow business owners to arm themselves in order to defend against vengeful gangsters? Of course such actions would just lead to more violence on the streets, so bad idea.

Deny service? I guess the Charter of Rights are suspended if yer an armed gangster druggie wanting a coffee and a donut, I guess.
Metalman, if you enter "the bacon brothers" on google, you will get an answer to your question.

As for the new superintendant of PG detachment, this was purely a political move. We've heard these priorities before, yet still the problems persist. It isn't the new top cop's fault though, and it really isn't any previous top cop's fault either. Its the justice system that is basically a spin cycle that puts offenders back out onto the street as fast as the police can bring them in.

The RCMP saved a lot of money by simply appointing her as the new superintendant at the city detachment. No transfer costs, no moving bills, no extra monthly salary to pay her....etc etc....

Not to say she isn't capable, but if she is on the highway of tears task force, well then, has there been any arrests? Nope.
Imorg, you are correct in stating that it is the "justice" system that has to change in order for the fuzz to put away the scumbags for more than a few months. As for the scumbags getting off with just a conviction and a fine, well they should forfeit all their assets AND serve time.
Butterworthcar is of course only telling us what we want to hear, but I for one would ask a question regarding her intent to focus on B & E's and car theft; "Why not look at the root cause of most of the thefts"? that being druggies needing money to pay the scumbags for another fix. That is the way I see it.

True, metalman, true. Canada is way behind the times in terms of the forfeiture of goods obtained by crime to the crown. The states have had RICO laws in effect for quite some time and things get seized, pronto on the spot.
