Prince George, B.C.- The Prince George Public Library is looking for a budget enhancement that would boost taxes by 0.25%.
The enhancement is for $150 thousand dollars to:
-
Create a priority report on required issues immediately due to liability, safety and sustainability
-
To create initial drawings in critical areas
-
To begin phase one initial work
-
To ascertain detailed budget costs in a modular fashion.
The full cost of renovations to the library is $6.4 million. The enhancement would develop some architectural drawings for the project that would double the space of the Library without increasing the size of the building’s footprint.
The library continues to be a major draw to the downtown region. It has more than 50 thousand registered users, and has half a million visits per year.
The regular operating budget for the year is $3.9 million with a request to Council for $3.5 million. The regular budget has been approved.
