The man never lived in BC, and did nothing for BC as a politician. Not only that but he never as Prime Minster ever visited Northern BC, so why should he be honored with a mountain in our presence? Why not find a swamp in Quebec to name after him?
I remember past federal elections where Jeanette Townsend couldn’t even get 10% of the vote running under the federal liberal banner. After she lost the election she insulted the whole North by saying that if we will not vote for the federal liberals (ie Jeanette Townsend), then this region could expect suffer under a federal liberal government, and the North can’t expect any federal dollars for this region.
It was a malicious attack on democracy that I will never forget, and so it only seems appropriate that she would be the one that wants to honor someone of like mind in our own backyard.
Clearly this is another desperate attempt by the liberals through Jeanette Townsend to create a political issue before the election that they can manipulate for electioneering purposes. ie The ‘Us against them’ routine back east.
