Ryan Yorston will not be filing an application for a recount.

The rookie candidate for Prince George City Council, missed out  on winning a seat by just 46 votes.

Having considered all options, including the likelihood of a vote change, he has decided not to proceed with a recount application to the Courts. Ryan would like to THANK all of his supporters and looks forward to their continued support for RY-2008.

“It was a tremendous campaign that will serve Prince George well, in that it brought so many issues to light,” said Yorston, who will indeed run for a seat on council in three years’ time - RY08!

Yorston believes the record voter turnout indicates the people of Prince George are focused on finding resolutions to many issues.  Yorston  says he will be back " Along with other proud residents of Prince George, I will be watching with keen interest the workings of this new city council for the next three years, and I trust the direction the mayor and council will take this city is the proper way for both the short and long term. I wish them wisdom, cohesiveness, and good judgment.”

If Ryan can't even audit his own election results in such a close race, when clearly he could provide a public service as a check on an imperfect system, then he is not someone I would vote for in the future.

Maybe its the system. Maybe candidates should recieve some government funding if the vote is decided by less then 1% for the losing candidate?

50 votes would not be hard to engineer considering you could drive a bus through the loop holes in our vote casting and counting system.
I would agree that he had an opportunity to check the dependability of the automated system used for those who may be suspicious of the system.

Now we will go on with parts of the population continuing to feel that the system can be or is being manipulated.
He ran, he did very well. Congratulations.

Thank you for accepting your loss graciously. It could of went the other way. Time to move on.

The results gave us a clear indication that you are a worthy candidate for future consideration. A little more money. A little more of a campaign effort. A little more public awareness of who Ryan Yorston is and what he stands for and what he doesn't stand for will prepare him for the next opportunity in Public Office. Chester
