National Energy Board Responds To Local Calls for Information
By 250 News
"In the past several months, we have received numerous requests from communities and groups located in these regions (north-central B.C)," says the Chair of the National Energy Board.
Kenneth Vollman says the NEB is planning to hold three open houses in the region -- tonight at the Riverlodge Community Centre in Kitimat, on Wednesday at the Heritage Centre in Burns Lake and in Prince George on Friday at the Civic Centre.
He says the forums are in response to recently proposed pipeline projects in the region and requests to know more about the NEB and its processes. (see related Opinion 250 article)
Vollman says, "The north-central B.C. and Alberta regions anticipate increasing oil and gas developments and pipeline proposals in the next few years and people want to be educated on opportunities for involvement well before the public hearing process has been defined."
At each of the open houses a presentation by NEB staff will be followed by questions from those in attendance. The open houses start at 6pm and run until 9pm with the presentations set for 6:30pm. (for further details, click here)
