Prince George, B.C.- Environment Canada’s Jim Steele says we can blame the snowfall in Prince George on an upper cold front from Alberta “It slipped into B.C. creating winter like conditions”. He says this unstable cold mass is causing snowfall all over Alberta with Red Deer expecting 10 cm.

Not only is the snowfall a record breaker for this day in Prince George, (the old May 19th record was 1 cm set in 2007) this is a record breaker for the month. May normally gets 1.4 centimetres of snow, and there is already 2-4 centimetres on the ground.

“The good news is that things will start warming up tomorrow with the temperature in the teens, and by the weekend the temperature will be in the 20’s” says Steele. So it’s pretty safe to say you won’t need to shovel the driveway (or the roof) today.
