Cariboo-Prince George M.P. Dick Harris says "It feels pretty good to bring down the government. You know, for the last year and a half we have watched the mismanagment of this country by the Liberals." Those are the first thoughts the Prince George area M-P shared with Opinon 250 News following the fall of the Paul Martin Liberals.
"It didn't have to be this way" says Harris, "The Liberals had the opportuity to wrap up parliament, take a break over Christmas then return and call an election for early January, but the Liberals continued with their arrogance and here we are."
Harris says his team is ready to go "I will return home to Prince George on Wednesday, and then we will get working on the election." He says he plans to shut down his campaigning over Christmas, and will resume around the 5th of January . When asked if there was a fear of a backlash, that perhaps voters have no appetite for politics over the holiday season, Harris says not so "The people I have talked to say the sooner the better."
Stephen Harper says "Milions of Canadians are counting on us to stand up for them, no just to address the cares and concerns they havek but to speak to their hopes and their dreams. " Harper made the comments during his caucus address. He also calledd upon his Queec colleagues to work together to build a stronger Quebec within Canada.
Harper says he fully expects the Liberals to take direct aim at the Conservatives, but he says its just a diversion "It's like the thief who cries fire in a restaurant so that when everyone else is gone he can rob the cash register." According to Harper, if Paul Martin takes aim at the Conservatives, they should look at that attack as evidence they (the tories) are on the right track!

Not that it makes much difference, but the opposition parties could have done the same if they had wanted to. This way we will have an election, the Liberals will win a minority government and then the final Gomery report will come out and we will be back to square one, with Harper (or perhaps McKay) arguing about the Liberal's right to govern and telling Martin to resign. Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose. Doesn't it make you weary?
