Quesnel, B.C.-  The Quesnel School District has laid off 22 teachers as it copes with a budget shortfall.

School District 28 made the cuts to cope with a $800,000 deficit.   Board Chair Caroline Nielson says shortfall was the result of a number of factors, including declining enrolment and government under funding education.

While this year was tough, Nielson says next year could be worse.  She says school closures are not out of the question.  Nielson says the board will send a letter to the province to address the funding issue

The District passed its preliminary budget this week.

Where is the comment from Shirley Bond about all the money they are spending on education now?
Unfortunately Shirley takes her marching orders from Victoria...as much as she advocates for her riding. Now that the election is over, let the cuts begin!
