Prince George, BC – The signings of 2009 bantam draft picks continue for the Prince George Cougars, as the team has inked Troy Bourke to a standard Western Hockey League player contract.
Bourke, a product of Onoway, Alberta, was taken by the Cougars in the April 30 WHL Bantam Draft in the second round, 26th overall. The talented forward was named the MVP of the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League in 2008-09, leading the league with 83 points, amassing 45 goals and 38 assists in only 33 games for the Spruce Grove Timberwolves. Bourke also led the AMBHL in game winning goals with 8.
“It’s great to have Troy join our hockey club and we’re very proud to have our first three picks of the draft signed,” said Cougars General Manager Dallas Thompson. “Troy not only has a wealth of talent and hockey smarts, but he’s a great young man off the ice as well.”
