Delta, B.C.- Delta Police have completed their investigation and are recommending charges of impaired driving causing death, and dangerous driving causing death be laid against RCMP Corporal Monty Robinson.
The investigation is of a collision that took place in October 2008 when a jeep collided with a motorcycle. The 21 year old motorcycle driver, Orion Hutchinson died as a result of the crash.
Corporal Robinson was arrested at the scene.
If the Corporal’s name sounds familiar, it is because he is the same “Monty Robinson” who was the most senior officer involved in the events which lead up to the death of Robert Dziekanski.
The Delta Police report is now in the hands of the Crown, which will likely take about a month before it completes its review of the case and makes a decision about proceeding with charges.
Corporal Robinson has been suspended with pay since last year.
His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days, a suspension Robinson tried, but failed to have over turned. He told the court he had left the scene of the crash, downed a couple of shots of vodka, then returned to the scene.
