Now of course we don't have all the details just yet. But if this guy was just walking the streets downtown minding his own business and he gets robbed and knifed in brod daylight, that's just brutal. What if he was just on his way to get a bite to eat on his lunch break? or just getting out of the office for a quick walk? Can't even do that now. So sad. Bloody punks. They just don't give a shit.
Our downtown is BAD, today about three o'clock , we saw a woman with black hair about thirty five and stoned bent over to look in a car mirror, the lady is a new face in town she had a bare BUM , lucky no children were around.
We probably have all kinds of new faces in town and more to come as we get closer to the olympics. I guess the best thing to do downtown is to carry your own knife where your wallet should be.
Crazy shit if I asked around I bet I could find out what happened there. But see really nobody just gets knifed down here. I got an idea who it was.If it's the guy I think it is then yeah he has a huge mouth and if you piss them off when they are drunk or high they will knife ya.
So why do we put up with people in P.G. who get drunk and knife ya ?? Lets put them on a bus and send them back to where they came from.
Was the victim aboriginal as well?

Does the victim know the perps?

Based on chrislivingdowntown, that might be the case. If so, it is bad that this happened, but not as bad if it happened without any previous connection.
Bring in the three strikes and you are out law like some of the states have. 3rd time you lock them up for a long time. At least than the public is a lot safer.
We can't do a "three strikes your out" in Canada as our jail systems are built and run by the Gov't. If there is so little money for health care etc, there can be hardly much money for new jails.

This is why you see people getting 3-30+ convictions but so little time spent in jail.... there's no room at "the inn".

In the Excited States of America, the jails are mostly privatized, and it's big business. If you have more prisoners, they build more jails. The Gov't only has to cough up the money to "house" the prisoners.
"The Gov't only has to cough up the money to "house" the prisoners."

LOL ... I'll build anything too and manage it if someone were to guarantee me big bucks.

Obviously, if it is big business, they have lots of money ..... or they think they have .....

Isn't that the problem the world is now facing ... that the USA thinks they have lots of money when it was really all just plastic all along?
A 3 strikes law would be great, but that's not going to happen anytime soon.
The big problem is the fact that there is nowhere to put them anymore.
Judges are already being told to go easy on the number of people they put in jail.
I am curious...anyone know when the last time a federal or provincial prison of substancial size was built?
I believe there's a fairly good size remand centre being built in the Vancouver area.
300 strikes and you are almost out?
Well chris, if you have some idea of who did it, then tell the police, or crimestoppers. Yakking about it on this site doesnt help the victim or the public.
Having an "idea" of who did the crime is not going to get you anywhere with the RCMP. If you don't have solid proof or not willing to divulge your identity, any information you provide will disappear in the black hole. It's not seen as credible.
I am a firm believer in letting the street take care of itself. I know that people just don't go stab happy for nothing. Chances are the dude had it comming.
