Prince George, B.C. - A well known SPCA worker, 34 year old Jeannine Woodhouse, has been identified as one of two women killed in a head on crash between two vehicles about 11 kilometres south of McLeese Lake , Tuesday morning.
Woodhouse was the lone occupant of a vehicle that crashed head on into a vehicle driven by 44 year old Marjorie Westergard of Williams Lake. Both women died instantly in the crash.
Woodhouse had worked for many years at the SPCA, she recently returned to fill in for another worker on maternity leave.
According to police, the 1998 Ford Ranger pick-up truck driven by Jeannine Woodhouse, was travelling southbound on Highway 97, when it crossed the centre line in a curve and collided head-on with a 2001 Honda Accord, travelling northbound.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene of this incident.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and alcohol was not a factor in this incident.
The road was bare and dry and in very good condition. The weather provided for clear and sunny skies, with excellent visibility.
The B.C. Coroners Service attended and will continue its investigation with the assistance of the Cariboo Chilcotin Traffic Services Unit. The Collision Reconstructionist from Prince George attended the scene to conduct a forensic examination of the physical evidence available, in the hopes of establishing the contributing factors in this crash.
A third vehicle, from Alaska, was involved in this collision, however it sustained only minor damage and the driver was uninjured.
