The President of Central Mountain Air, headquartered in Smithers, isn't willing to tip his hand just yet, but says, "there are a few things coming down the line in the near future."

Douglas McCrea says the twice daily flights between Prince George-Fort St. John-Fort Nelson and back that were introduced on a trial basis last April have been doing well and seem to be meeting the demand for an area that's busy right now.

CMA is privately owned and operated and currently serves 18 communities in B.C. and Alberta.  Direct flights between Prince George and Calgary were cancelled last March.  McCrea says flights into the major centres attract the larger carriers and it's often difficult to compete, but he says his company looks at opportunities wherever they arise.

The CMA President says times are changing on almost a monthly basis in the airline industry -- partly due to the economy, and partly just because that's the nature of the business.  And he says it's sometimes hard to know what will emerge.  McCrea says Central Moutain Air is "towing the line for now", but that could change early in the New Year.

I would love for someone to once again offer a direct flight from PG to Victoria.
I was so glad when Horizon offered it and flew it at least monthly, but then they to stopped.
I sometimes could not even get a seat as it was full, so cannot understand why they stopped that flight?
