McBride, B.C.- It will be back to court in October for Frank MacKay. He is the Edmonton lawyer facing three charges in connection with the two horses found starving in chest deep snow in the Renshaw area near McBride last December.
The discovery of the animals resulted in a team of volunteers braving bone chilling cold to dig a trench a kilometre long to walk the horses, Sundance and Belle, to safety. The animals were seized by the SPCA and have been placed in new homes.
MacKay did not appear in court on Friday, instead, his lawyer addressed the court by teleconference. The case has now been set over to October 2nd at which time MacKay, or his lawyer acting on his behalf, will enter a plea.

no hold the court on top of the mountain, everyday for five days, everyone else gets to go home at night, but have him tied to a tree. He could only hope that a grizzly shows up.
Not to diminish the plight of the two horses at all, please understand that I hold horses and most other creatures in high esteem. For that matter, I also own two horses who are well looked after. But, isn't there a little too much being made of this case? There is a lot of drama and sensation being mined by the media here, while to me, more serious matters appear to take a back seat, or at best, receive short shrift. People love horses therefore there is an emotional content to this story that keeps the issue rolling. Not to mention the heroic efforts of the rescuers. Gee, usually the media in general has a very short attention span.
Add a little human/equine drama and you have a story that just won't quit.
metalman.
Remand him to Renshaw Mtn until the case resumes.
metalman, with all due respect, these animals can't speak for themselves, so I am pleased that the media and others who care about animals have chosen to keep this story in the forefront. Otherwise, abusive treatment of animals happens, people are upset for a while, the deed is quickly forgotten, nothing changes, and animals continue to suffer. Just my opinion.
