Prince George, B.C.- The fire risk remains high for much of the Prince George Fire Centre and a campfire ban remains in place for these areas.

Throughout the fire centre 73% of the region is in a high fire danger rating, 9% is in extreme and the remainder is in a moderate fire danger rating.

With the threat of lightning occurring late this week and into the weekend it is extremely vital that the public abides by the campfire ban where it applies. Category 2 and 3 fires remain banned through the entire fire centre. With the risk of lightning fires it is imperative that all resources be utilized for the natural lightning caused fires.

A zero tolerance for campfires has been put in place and fire wardens will be doing patrols while other enforcement officers will be issuing tickets as required.
