The former Premier's Tatton Lake-front property is open to bidding today

There's heightened interest in an auction underway at Richie Brother's in Surrey today...

Media from across the lower mainland have gathered at the auctioneers to monitor one of the items up for bid.  It is a 85-acre parcel of waterfront acreage at Tatton Lake, 10-kilometres north of 100 Mile House owned by former Premier Bill Vander Zalm.

The property, said to be "partially cleared with good areas to build House/Cottage".  None of the sales staff at Ritchie Brothers has been able to confirm the opening bid, the auction is set to close at 4pm and can be viewed on-line at www.rbauction.com.

Vander Zalm apparently acquired the property in the late 70's as partial payment for a business deal, but has only visited the area a couple of times since taking ownership.

Interest in the property has been expressed from as far away as Dubai, in the Middle East.
