Suspicious Death at the Doig River First Nations Community

North District RCMP are investing a suspicious death. On October 25, 2009, shortly after 9:00 am Fort St. John RCMP were requested to attend to a residence in the community of the Doig River First Nations in response to a report of a deceased male. Upon attendance to the residence, Police confirmed that the male was deceased from what appeared to be suspicious circumstances. The residence was secured and additional resources were requested to attend to the scene. An autopsy will be conducted in order to assist the Police with determining the cause of death. It is believed that several persons were present in the residence when this incident occurred and Police are continuing to speak with these people. Forensic Identification Specialists are on scene to assist with the investigation. Members of the North District Major Crime Unit are working in partnership with the Fort St. John General Investigation Section, the North District General Investigation Section and the First Nations Policing Unit in order to continue with this investigation. At this time, Police will not be releasing further information about this investigation.
