Transat Holidays introduces new service to Mexico later this week

Colder temperatures got you down?  Needing to escape from the crush of holiday shopping line ups?

The Prince George Airport Authority (YXS) is hosting a Mexican Fiesta Tuesday morning to celebrate the airport's first direct flight to Mexico.

Airport spokesperson, Todd Doherty, says the fiesta runs from 6am until 9am complete with a mariachi band, travel agents, and staff from Amigo's Taco shop on-hand to celebrate the first flight out to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

The new flight is being introduced by Transat Holidays, Canada's largest tour operator, in partnership with Westjet and will run weekly from now until March.

Congratulations to our PG Airport Authority, Transat holidays and Westjet. Thank you for offering us direct service to Mexico.

It always bothered me to have to add two extra days on to my trips out of Prince George, the extra meals and transportation costs and the two extra days we must also take off work.

This service will make a substantial difference in how often residents of this area travel, especially to Mexico.

Merry Christmas, Chester
This service is not like our Transit System that can run half full. Its survival depends on full usage. As it is the flight originates in Fort Mcmurray and flys to Prince George then on to Mexico. Hopefully their are enough Mexico Fiesta travellers to keep it running.Merry X
I am going for a week in Feb, will be great to fly from home without all the stops and such for once.

I fly monthly to Seattle and wish we could do that non stop as well from PG.

Mariachi band? No, it was just a band. They ought to have flown a real Mariachi band up from Vancouver and invite the public to celebrate!

Disappointed.
