H1N1 Vaccine Offered for Sale on the Net

Prince George, B.C.- As supply of H1N1 vaccine dwindles, there is news of an attempt to sell a dose through the internet. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Perry Kendall says he has become aware of an ad that had appeared on the internet, offering to sell doses of vaccine.
The ad was placed by someone claiming to be a public health nurse. Kendall says it is a scam, the ad has since been removed, and the public needs to be advised there will always be some who try to take advantage during difficult times. The incident has been turned over to the RCMP to investigate.
Dr. Kendall says he is not aware of any vaccine having been stolen, and says there hasn’t been any real concern of an H1N1 vaccine black market developing. “We have had people jumping the queue, so if you can jump the queue why would you seek it out on the black market?” He says his message to anyone thinking of going to the blackmarket for vaccine is simple, “Don’t do it, it is likely fraud.”
