Japan- Lumber executives who are returning from the China-Japan wood trade mission say they are very happy on how things went in the two countries.

We continue to crack the door open in China, one executive said. The manner in which we are seeking out new markets for our lumber has come a long way from what it was a decade ago and it is beginning to show big time.

You have got to go to these countries hand in hand with government if you are going to open up new markets. The Chinese are accustomed to talking to government officials who make the final call and the Forest Minister of BC must be a part of the trade talks.

Forest Minister Pat Bell says the wood trade mission will return to China again next year. Japan is Canada’s second largest lumber buyer next to the USA and industry and government would like to grow those sales as well.

Pat Bell will appear on the Meisner Show Friday 20th, at 9.00 to be interviewed about the sales mission.
