School District 57's Millenium Scholarship Fund Committee just recently announced the creation of two new $1000.00 scholarships to be handed out in June of 2006.
The 'Springboard to Success' scholarships will be awarded to deserving students who finish second to those students taking top academic honours. And, now, the committee has announced an agreement reached with the College of New Caledonia that would see CNC match the scholarships if the winners enroll in a full-time program.
"It's our hope that people who train 'close to home' will end up working here as well, further strengthening our communities and our economies," says CNC President Ralph Troschke.
Committee member, Norm Monroe, says, "This is a great opportunity for the students of this area. By training locally, they can receive excellent post-secondary education and keep their post-secondary costs down."
The winners can enroll in at any one of the College's regional campuses located in Prince George, Quesnel, Burns Lake, Valemount, Vanderhoof, Fort St. James, and Mackenzie.
