Iglika Ivanova, never heard of this person.but why do I have a feeling that either the provincial or federal governement thisn they should speak for the HST...I have no doubt Bell with pump out all of criminal Campbell's stats and figures for the HST...oh right Bell is a business owner so he wants all the breaks he will get. sounds pretty one sided to me....where are those who think it not such a good idea?????
Iglika ..... http://www.sfu.ca/sfunews/_pvw9C438741/sfu_news/archives/sfunews05260508.shtml

Since it is a discussion, and given that she writes for the CCPA I think we will hear opposing views.

An academic with advanced education in economics against a cabinet minister and businessman. Might be interesting if she is feisty.
This could be an excellent time for Bill Vander Zalm to start recruiting names for his petition.
Pat Bell...aka "Pump and Dump".
Is he an accountant?
What is the point to these discussions?
Is it possible that Bell and the government will change their point of view?
No,it is not,so why even bother?
All we will get is more rhetoric that we have already heard.
Sign the petition and we MAY have a hope of shutting this money grab down...but I doubt it.
What Campbell wants,Campbell gets and to hell with what the people of B.C. say about it.
Even if enough signatures are gathered,he is going to ram it up our butts anyway.
Pat Bell is a politician that continually confuses consequences with cause... a form of corruption to reason in selling an agenda he often has no understanding of, but is arrogant enough to claim he has all the answers thereby fooling enough people to allow him to make bad policy from his own circular arguments.

One look at his handling of his constituents economy in Mackenzie should make that clear from my perspective.
Bell's four "B's" = Bell's bulls##t baffles brains
actually I don't think Bell has had an independant thought since falling in line with criminal Campbell...probably doesn't breath unless there is wind passed either ...I believe...
Good discription of Pat Bell Eagleone.
That pretty much covers it.
Pat Bell ain't gonna rock the boat. That isn't how political careers are made.
When the time comes, sign the Petition. We CAN stop this tax if we make the Referendum legislation work for us. It's a cumbersome process, but it's the best chance we've got to tell Campbell that enough is enough. If we don't, he's only going to keep coming back to us for more, and more , and more. Gordon Campbell was put in office after asserting over and over while campaigning that, "Tax cuts work!" And they do, it was one of the few honest utternaces he ever made. But his deeds have not matched his words. We did not vote FOR a HST in the last election, and what's coming up soon will be our only chance to meaningfully express our opinion on whether we want it or not. Sign the Petition, lets make what we call democracy really work.
Eaglestone Could you clarify the handling of his constituents in Mackenzie to me! I spend lots of time there and don't deny it is tough but the governments have spent millions of dollars there helping people keep theie E.I. going until industry picks up. Would you suggest they get involved in industry and piss away say 500,000,000 like happened in Prince Rupert. Mackenzies biggest problem is Corporations that don't give a hoot about the community. Hopefully there is light at the end of that tunnel as well.
An HST get together in the hallowed halls of that ivory tower? Young people there have no concept about over taxation and it's results, due to the fact they haven't worked and paid taxes for half their life. take this roadshow to some senior centres or old folks homes. Old people know more about over taxation than wide eyed politically correct/socialistic/ femininistic/environmentalists. Too much potential flack from the elders? Ooooh, scary.
