Prince George, B.C.- Mayor Dan Rogers is off to Vancouver today to take part in the special reception/ economic forum organized by Initiatives Prince George. “They’ve brought together business leaders to talk about our vision for Northern B.C. with a particular focus on build with wood.”
The Mayor says the contingent from Prince George will be taking it’s “Wood First” resolution to the session which is set to take place tomorrow.
The Mayor says he will not be taking in any of the games while there, “I will be sleeping on my brother’s couch, because I looked around and the cost of accommodation is horrendous. So I will be sleeping on the couch, and hopefully getting back to Prince George for budget meetings the following day.”
Mayor Rogers says he will be heading to Vancouver tonight to prepare for the event tomorrow, and plans to attend a session hosted by the Minister of Forests and Range Pat Bell later Tuesday “I will focus on the opportunities to network and fly the Prince George flag as best I can and promote our community, but we’re right in the middle of budget so I will be back for one of our final budget sessions on the 24th.”
Rogers says he turned down an offer of free event tickets from the BC Lotteries Corporation “I didn’t see a business opportunity arising from it. This (the event with IPG) is a great opportunity at the Games to fly the flag and bring the people together so we can enforce why investing in the North, why investing in Prince George makes sense.
