Whistler, B.C. - First-time Olympian, Prince George athlete Megan Tandy, did not have to wait long for her first event at the 2010 Winter Olympics...
The 21-year-old biathlete makes her Olympic debut in the Women's 7.5-kilometre sprint at 1pm this afternoon.
Tandy travelled to Mount Washington on Vancouver Island at the end of January for a one-week training camp on her own with her coach, iLmar Heinicke, before the rest of the Canadian Team arrived for a pre-Olympic camp.
She has spent the past couple of days practising in Whistler and gearing up mentally for the games. The young athlete says it's important to feel agressive and confident.
Tandy has realistic goals for these games...hoping to finish in the top 30.
Her top international results to date, include: a bronze at the Summer World Junior Championships in 2009, and five top 15 finishes at Junior World Championships between 2006 and 2008.
Tandy began biathlon recreationally just eight years ago at the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club.
