Whistler, B.C. - Megan Tandy has completed her final individual biathlon event at the Winter Olympics...

The 21-year-old from Prince George finished the Women's Individual 15-km in 50th place, falling six places from her start of 44th.  However, she was, once again, the top Canadian finisher.  Teammates, Megan Imrie, Zina Kocher, and Rosanna Crawford, finished in 62nd, 72nd, and 76th place, respectively.

Tandy says, "I missed three targets, which was a few too many to make my goal of a Top 30th finish."

"Unfortunately, I just wasn't able to bring together the elements to make it a personal best."

That being said, Tandy is feeling really wonderful about her debut at the Olympics.

She is the youngest on the Canadian women's team and was the only one to qualify for the 10-km Pursuit, after the 7.5-km Sprint, writing herself into the Canadian Olympic history books as the only woman to do so.  She finished in 46th place in the sprint and moved up 10 spots to finish 36th in the pursuit.

"These Games have felt like home for me," says Tandy, "It's been really, really comfortable.  I have so many family members here supporting me, and I know so many of the volunteers out on the course.  It's been really great."

Tandy is looking forward to her final event at the Games -- "it's going to be so much fun" -- the Women's 4x6km relay next Tuesday.

Gold in today's Individual 15-k went to Tora Bergrer of Norway, Elena Khrustaleva of Kazakhstan took silver, and Belarus' Darya Domracheva grabbed the bronze.

That is a good finish for Megan, hey, how many people can ski and shoot at that level? Probably not many. The vagaries of Mother Nature i.e. a gust of wind that causes her to miss the target, well each miss equals a one minute penalty, and I bet all those girls were only minutes apart, overall. Not bad.

Good for her!
We are soooo proud of you! Congratulations for representing Prince George and a job very well done.
We'll be cheering for you next Tuesday Megan! Go Team Canada!
