Quesnel, B.C. -  RCMP says Worksafe BC is involved in the investigation into this morning's fatal collision on Highway 97S, because a BC Hydro vehicle was hit in the head-on crash.

The accident happened just after 8am on the highway near Tamarack Road.  Witnesses reported seeing a northbound van cross the centre line and hit the oncoming Hydro pick-up truck.

The driver of the van, a Quesnel resident, died at the scene.  The driver of the BC Hydro, also from Quesnel, vehicle was taken to G.R. Baker Memorial hospital with unknown, non-life threatening injuries.

Police says Worksafe BC gets involved any time a commercial vehicle is involved in a collision.  The BC Coroner's agent is also assisting police.
