Prince George, B.C. -  RCMP are just releasing details about the city's latest drug bust...

Officers executed a search warrant in the 39-hundred block of Chestnut Drive and discovered 600 pot plants in various stages of development, along with related grow equipment.

Four adults -- three males and one female -- have been taken into custody and are facing charges of production of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Good, now can they make the charges stick, and will there be jail time for the four?
I be they will be back in business by Monday.
metalman.
someone gets shot to death a few days ago so they decide to shut down a grow op lol
I`d bet they will be out by saterday.
The people with the grow ops are the ones who do the shooting. Don't fool yourself into thinking weed is harmless. The people who grow it and sell it are gangsters and murderers.
The growers are gangsters because the product is illegal. If it was not illegal, the criminal element would not have as much opportunity to be involved.

Besides, this is just low hanging fruit so to speak. IMO All these busts in the last few months are due to an informant that was deep in the industry. They won't bust the harmful drug producers because they cannot find them.

Weed in and of itself is harmless. It is the legal status of the substance that makes it risky.

I have done my research. Most of the tripe spewed against this is pure lying propaganda.
not all pot growers are terrorists like the police would like you to believe!!!
I think all the grow op busts are just a way of keeping the people focused on pot,
What about Crack and Heroin???
does this town not have a needle delivery van, could the cops not follow it to HEROIN dealers house and bust them????
intravenous drugs are DEADLY and this city enables true junkies and Hard drug dealing, And spends its resorces to bust pot growers, Even though they cant prove any organized crime or keep them in jail.
I am personaly sick of seeing women whore themselves out for drugs and seeing emacated people who look almoste dead, kids shooting eachother and those things are not a result of pot.
its easier to hide cocaine then it is to hide 600 marijuana plants LOL that would be my guess on why the rcmp bust them its basically less work for them but they can still brag in the media how the war on drugs is working. When was the last time we saw 10 huge crack cocaine busts in 1 month in PG?..
It is a well known fact that drug dealers in canada grow marijuana and send it over the american boarder and trade for Cocaine. For those of you who think these marijuana grow ops are harmless, think agian. Every grow up that gets shut down stops another exchange of highly addictive and dangerous drugs.
SW too,get yer head outta yer butt. How many ppl do U no that have died from smoking the weed?? I an tell U ZERO,how many are gonna die this weekend from DRINKING AND DRIVING??5,10,15,any ones guess.STFU till you the facts rite.
It is true that a portion of the product is exported. What proportion is just a wild a55 guess. it is true that some of that export is traded or converted to cocaine.

Now stop and think for second or two. Our lumber is exported to the USA. We in turn receive goods from the USA. Was it traded? NO, it was sold for market value. The goods that are brought up from the USA are purchased with funds from other sources.

This is the same process used in the underground economy. The exported product is sold, then the cocaine is purchased. That is not trade or barter, that is business. The only verifiable link is the organized crime organizations that are the major international distributors.

The BBC has an article from March 2007 that states in a poll conducting by a major polling firm that said that 30% of Canadians admit to using pot. You and two buddies sitting in a room together, one of you will be a consumer. Those are only the ones willing to admit it. It is also estimated that over 60% of Canadians have tried it. That 30% is more than current tobacco consumption and this with something that not all respondents would admit to.

That is 10,000,000 citizens of this country that partake. Assuming a regular user consumes 1 oz per month that works out to 7,500,000 pounds or 3,750 tons consumed each year.
$18,000,000,000. Can you say $18 billion out of our above board economy. $18 billion in the hands of organized crime. $18 billion untaxed dollars. That is just the domestic market. Just imagine the numbers on a global scale. And sheeple still believe Reefer Madness as legitimate fact.

It is all bogus protectionist manure to protect the interests of the USA wood fiber industry. Hemp is not marijuana, but that is what this is all about, nothing more. They even have gone so far as to associate it with "undesirables" like immigrants and poverty stricken folks. Tyranny, misogyny, racism, and elitist segregation is the reality here.

They have no plan to win the war on drugs. Just a plan to wage the war on drugs. Why do you think that is? It is because if they have a war on something, they have an ever increasing budget. Have you ever wondered why we pay more taxes today than years ago yet the level of service has decreased?

If there truly was a war on drugs, one would think they would go after something in addition to pot, but they do not. Just pot.

What business is it of the government to determine how I can enjoy an altered reality. Tobacco causes harm if used as intended and we all know about the hazards of excess alcohol consumption. There is not one documented case of any harm from this substance. They haven't permitted many studies of it because they already know the truth.
Boudicca said it best, except for the omission of meth. As far as I know the two most dangerous of the common street drugs are crack and meth. Both are controlled by the criminal gangs, who also control most if not all of the marijuana grow operations.
I believe that pot is relatively harmless, if grown organically and not tainted somehow as has been rumoured.
The grow ops are indeed low hanging fruit, to quote Loki, but the more they can slow down the gangs by affecting their bottom line, the better.
metalman.
zyblxteu - may I suggest you get your head out of your butt and actually read my post. Your comments have absolutely no relation to my comments.
"Have you ever wondered why we pay more taxes today than years ago yet the level of service has decreased"

No, but I have considered the relationship between lower level of services and the fact that we pay LESS taxes than we did years ago. Check the historical rates and brackets for proof. Heck, check your own tax returns for proof.

As for the MAJOR grow ops, like any other criminal I could care less if they get busted, go to jail and lose everything they have. I tend to side with the people who are actually contributing to our society and trying to be good people.
Again, will all this grow-op equipment be auctioned off for the umpteenth time to kinda fill the rather empty coffers in Victoria? Do the auctioneers question who is buying this stuff or do they just turn a blind eye so they can keep their job security by selling it over and over again?
If all this pot is being traded for Cocaine(as Streetwise2 refers) where is it??Why can't they find it??Pretty easy to detect the strung out people on the street...but can't find out where they got their high....BS..the amount made from cocaine is much higher than marijuana How about meth labs-e labs or any labs?? these take special chemicals but they can't trace them....c'mon
we've got to stop those hippies - the world depends on us.
