Prince George, B.C. -  Reaction from Homesteader Meats' 'neighbours' differs slightly...

While the owners of both adjacent businesses are saddened to see the 'meat' in their sandwich close its doors, one is feeling confident, the other less so.

Charles Claus and his wife, Ann, have run Baker Extraordinaire in the Parkhill Centre for the past 12 years.

"It's unfortunate, they have been good neighbours over the years," says Charles Claus.  "(But) we have an established clientele, so we're optimistic that we just go forward."

The owner of The Butterfly Baby Boutique, on the other side of Homesteader, is less certain her new business will continue to thrive.

"This affects our traffic," says Jessika Hinton. "For a new business just opening up -- I've only been here for five months -- it's really going to affect how we go about the rest of the year."

Hinton is worried that without Homesteader to pull customers in, many potential customers will simply drive by.

don't think the bakery is closing. Hope not.
The Bakery should close immediately. They have been a major disappointment.
Typical lots of buisness's closing in the soon to be ghost town of PG
Ghost town PG, thanks mainly to mayor Dan Rogers.

Mayor Dan and City Councillors have got to start sending the positive message that they are trying to be fiscally responsible, and that they are trying everything possible to trim costs and reduce taxes.

A projected 4% tax increase is NOT acceptable
