On April 6, the people of B.C. can start signing the anti-hst petition. Does anyone know the answer to the following question? In Prince George we have two electoral districts. (Prince George - Valemount and Prince George - Mackenzie). In this upcoming anti-hst petition drive, are the canvassers going to be carrying two separate petitions with them? Also I think it would be a good idea if the canvassers would ask if they could set up a table at a place such as The Pine Center Mall. If the folks at The Pine Center Mall agreed to let a table be set up in their mall, that fact could be posted on this site. If they refuse to let a table be set up at their mall, that fact could also be posted on this site. It seems to me a business would benefit from extra sales if they were to permit the setting up of an anti-hst petition table on their premises.

Well I thought I would fill up yesterday because I figured prices would go up from 106.9 Half hour after I fill up gas drops to 99.9. I won't buy a lottery ticket today I guess.
Good Morning my fellow tax paying Citizens.

How are you this fine spring morning? Wow, the weather has been wonderful this winter don't you think? The snow budget from 2009 was over the top, but hey, 2010 will be way below budget...................NOT!

The City of Prince George are like kids in a candy store. We have lots of money now, let's spend it, and hope we don't get any more of what ever the money was supposed to be for, for the rest of the budget year!! WOW

On the morning of February 24, 2010, I drove my cab south, down Ospika Blvd. As I passed by the CN Center at about 2:30 AM in the morning, I was shocked to see the unnecessary spending of our tax Dollars!

There was a full size City of PG gravel truck. A full size City loader, and one of those City pickups that has a flashing arrow, to direct traffic. Are you getting the picture yet???

Why are they there? To remove some wind rows of snow that are melting at a feverishly rate of speed. Seriously folks, they are scooping up the very small wind rows of snow, dumping them in a full size gravel truck, and hauling the said snow away.

HELLO, it was thawing out! And what was with the traffic directing pickup?? What a total waste of TAX DOLLARS.

I am going to start packing my camera! The things I see on night shift to do with wasteful spending of our tax dollars, by our City workers, is disgraceful

A lot of heads need to roll at City Hall!

Speaking of snow city snow removal, why do the city sand/plow trucks run around with their strobes on when they are not ploughing or sanding, very annoying trying to follow one in the dark.
they are "THE CITY" acrider54, they are "GOD", so they think!!
Okay so... Now we have Formaldehyde in the air we breathe?

WHAT? Am I hearing things right?

Wow if it's not one thing with our air it's another. It sometimes makes me wonder if we actually know the whole truth.

I have a friend with a young son and while they were living in PG his son required the use of a "puffer". Well my friend got a transfer to Kamloops and as soon as they got there "POOF"... the puffer was gone! No need for it anymore.

Yes I've also heard that Kamloops has poor air quality as well... but what does my story say about our air here in PG?

It's wayyyyyy worse!

Grab your masks people... someones lying to us.
city crews spent alot of time on my street - with grader and loader - winging back the edges, but is that really necessary?? The road is almost completely melted and they are grading?
My street doesn't have curbs or anything like that (no drains, just ditches) I really couldn't see why they were wasting money.
There goes the 2010 budget already.

Has anybody noticed the big pile of clothes, and assorted crap, by the side of the road as you turn onto Queensway by the memorial sculpture at the foot of Connaught Hill? The same pile has been laying there since December. Do we not have city workers in this town? I thought we did. I mean I always see them pulled over in their trucks smoking joints.
Now that the snow is mostly gone, there's a lot of garbage and dog crap around. I've come to the conclusion that people are pigs.
Thank you VANOC, Thank you Gordo, Thank you Harper. It was a great Olympics. Never watch so many olympic events in my life. It was fun, and eventually Canada did own the top podium.

Thanks Megan, you did great. Hope to see you in the future olympic events.

Its good to see our atheletes do well in our home turf.

My biggest trash pet peeve is how Superstore looks year round. There is garbage blown in between the automatic doors, dirt and gravel up on the sidewalk, and garbage all over the parking lot... I know our society is lazy and disrespectful, but Management could at least send one of the staff who are aimlessly walking around, outside with a broom and garbage bin.

Heck I'll donate a broom!
@MrPG

I totally agree with you that people are pigs!

I think that we should start a campaign that if you see someone allowing their animal to defecate and not cleaning up after it that you scoop it up follow them home and dump it on their yard!
Now why does Bond want to do another study??
What is rong with this one.I bet she don't live in the TOILET BOWL.
Anyone else notice the BRAINDEAD talking on there PHONES,it's illegal. The fine should be $500!
And for the anti potheads, last weekend drunks that were killed 2 in Van drunk driver, potheads OOOOOOOO.And then those 2 young girls that mixed ,who no's what,it was not POT.Anyone have a clue just how much it does take to OD??you would have to ingest 1500 lbs in the matter of 15mins,wow EH!!now how much BOOZE would it take ta kill ya??
Soon to be legal,KMA.
Can someone from city hall (maybe mr. mayor) explain what is so great about living in pg (besides the air, potholes, garbage, unemployment, local businesses like restaurants-homesteaders-prince mushrooms shutting down) that everytime one turns around you gotta be raising the taxes???
Today I think we should all take note about the plan to change our national anthem and the reasons behind that propsed change.

This is but a small glimpse into the hidden agenda we all hear about, but that is never defined. These people do not support women, Canadian values, or even Canada for that matter. They are host provocateurs residing in our government to the detriment of our sovereign future.

From my perspective, "in all they sons command' is a clear reference to Jesus and the values that Jesus stood for, and the fact that our nation was founded by Christians with Christian values. This idea that our national anthem makes reference to a duty towards the values of a higher authority represented in the man of Jesus Christ is a threat to those that would have the final arbiter of power become elite individuals that are accountable to no other man or god.

We are being subverted as a nation by the politics of zionism. We are no different than many other nations around the globe where the national heritage is under attack and a new global religion is being created that has Moses as the new standard. Jesus must go so Moses can take his place. Universalism of natural human rights must go for the tribalism of the chosen few.

Moses brought us the idea of the 'Promised Land"... he was the first to use this promise to lead an oppressed people into a genocidal war of aggression to 'free the chosen few'. The people that wish to rule the world wish to emulate Moses as their deity in making promises to subvert humanity to their unbending will.

In history we have a constant example of those that build 'empires' through first appearing as the protector of a peoples interests... so as to align their interests and use that relationship to undermine the ability for a people to resist their eventual subjugation and exploitation.

Early examples abound in the expansion of the Roman Empire who in every foreign war presented themselves as the protector. Rome protected the Etolians and the Greek city states against Macedon, she protected Bithynia and other Asiatic states against the Syrian kings, she protected Numidia against Carthage... and in all cases every people that she protected… was ultimately subjugated and absorbed into the Empire. Rome’s favourite policy was to seem disinterested and act with moderation as the protector, withdraw her troops after the crisis, but when the favourable moment came she always found a reason to march back in and make the allies new Roman provinces. Russia under Peter the Great created an empire through similar means... whether she was protecting Poland, the Crimea, Georgia, Turkey, or Austria to name but a few, she ultimately had a cost that saw those nations lose their sovereignty or great portions of their lands as a result of first receiving protection and then appropriation from Russia. That is how empires have always been built.

There is an analogy in how empires are created and how politics came to be. Politics is the art of empire building covering the subterfuge of real intentions. Aligning interests as a protector in order to subvert a people for subjugation to the hidden agenda. Gain power by having people think that their interests are aligned and shared either through 'party' politics, religions, movements on issues (ie the ism's).

At the top is zionism, an ideology which infiltrates all the parties, movements, religions, and nations through its financial backing of the central bankers around the globe, and the state power of Israel to organize foreign operations in favour of furthering the geopolitical goals of the zionsist movement. They use the politics of empire building where they advocate as the protector of various interests, or grass roots movements (through agent provocateurs), in order to get on the inside and influence an agenda that is alien and not in the interest of the group that has been infiltrated. Whether it be republicans, democrats, conservatives, liberals, the Catholic Church, Judaism, the 'religious right', feminism, or even things like the Tea Party movement... they find a way to act as the advocate, so as to infiltrate and eventually subjugate to their ulterior motives. The goal is to create paths of eventualities that consolidate power into the hands of zionsim… and eliminate sovereignty everywhere.

The cost to the host nations under soft occupation occurs when the interests of zionism conflict with the interests of the host nation and the priority of zionism supersedes the interests of the host nation (ie the war on terror and the Iraq war)... when control is exercised as per the game theory calculations in favour of the hidden agenda.

This rewording of our national anthem to remove reference to Jesus as the source of moral rights exposes a crack into the hidden agenda... and shows Stephen Harper's true allegiance. A man who ran as a friend of the tax payer only to run up the biggest deficit in Canadian history... or to gain political power by promising political reform only to go the opposite way and dismantle political institutions that get in his way for political power... or to espouse the merits of sovereignty only to surrender it to the Americans at every opportunity... and a man who set precedence in his Palestinian policy that shows no respect for the idea of universal human rights and national sovereignty of a people. A man who says one thing, but does something entirely different than what he preaches. Clearly Harper is not the Christian that he claims to be when he wishes to see the heritage of Jesus removed from the national character. Stephen Harper is not who he says he is when his actions are not congruent with the values he proports to represent.

Stephen Harper is nothing more than another Glen Beck. Align the patriot movement behind him by espousing the values of patriotism… all the while trying to redefine what patriotism really is and who its enemies are. In both cases they are really tools for enabling bankster policy that benefits the powers behind political zionism. In the case of Glen Beck he harnesses the people susceptible to revolution and focuses their eye as far away from the agenda of the banking class to control the world through fraudulent finance as he can by aligning their interests with his agenda of demonizing a self inflated evil pinata of sorts. Both Harper and Beck act with the same modus operandi.

In conclusion this is not an issue about a gender neutral national anthem. Feminism is simply a tool of the zionists like all the other ism's… so as to not attract attention to the real agenda. The real agenda is the threat they see when thousands of Canadians sing our national anthem with a patriot zeal that lends power to a higher authority than the shadowy world of an atheist anti-christ bankster class. The zionist movement want the world to see Moses as the first man of freedom and liberty, because in doing so they can undermine the teachings of Jesus (universalism) as that of a heretic… so as to pave the way for a future global empire accountable to no one but those who control the power of money creation.

Canadians should not take this kind of thing lightly (the reduction of our national heritage as a Christian nation). I myself do not attend church, but I do see the value in respecting the values of Jesus and the restraint that it imposes on the power of man in providing a higher moral authority over those that would otherwise submit society to their own vices. I hope others can see that value as well whether they are athiest, Budist, Jewish, Muslim or Christian. Canadians should not take this kind of thing lightly IHMO.
Thanks for the links guys... will look at them later tonight.. especially the HST one.
There are mega tax dollars being spent on projects that are supposed to be clean, ie: carbon neutral, such as wind farms. These subsidies are paid for by adding to the cost of power that we use. When you consider how inefficient wind power is along with the added cost of maintenance and the may more miles of high voltage powerlines, we wonder why our governments continue to persue these projects. I guess its to appease the citizens who still believe that c02 is still a toxic gas.

I predict that over time, we will see many of these windmills sitting idly by and being used for nests for eagles and osprey. This should give the environmentalists something to worry about.
On another topic that is currently being discussed is the making of our national anthem gender neutral by removing the word "sons". The only gender neutral statement I can think of at this time is "son of a b--ch".
Eagleone...you talk too much.
My personal complaint(s) today is city hall, downtown businesses are getting nailed with this city tax. The Inn of the North has to pay double than the Coast Bastion in Nanaimo?? that is on waterfront?? last time I looked the waterfront on the island is too expensive to afford for anyone, yet the hotels and businesses in Prince George have double the tax cap?? and according to just about everyone on this post, PG is a garbage, animal excrement, polluted dung heap of a city to live in. with air bad enough to kill small children. I don't know are we getting ripped off? Does city council make decisions in private meetings before bringing them to the public? then have votes that they know have already been made? are we living in a city more corrupt than in Chicago in Al Capones time? Does city council really spend every dime they get foolishly and then tax the backs off all of their citizens to cover up their mistakes?

if so why did we vote them in? These are the people we so feverently trusted just a few months ago, are they really the greatest cons around? they sucked us in and now they are going to get filthy rich off our money?

I think we can get a little out of hand sometimes, I do however think we do get taxed a bit much, considering we have a provincial government who happily taxes us whenever possible already, and i do agree that having a budget not only means following it but also allowing for enough money to cover the expenses as well. I laugh at the snow removal budget being spent so early each year.

its easy, on halloween it will snow, in december it will stay, just after christmas and through new years we will get a big dump, it will then get cold, and it will snow alot in feb. in march temperatures will come up, it will snow some more and then in april the melt will start. give or take a year or two like this year it will usually stick to that pattern, why can't we budget for that? like every year get 20 fender benders at the first snow fall, it snows around the same time each year, did we not learn from last year?

anyways ciy hall get a grip, get a budget that works, leave the taxes to the provincial government we pay enough already, and clean up the mess, we all have to live work and play here, we deserve it to be worth it, after all its our dollars this place runs on.

Who mentioned a TEA Party for PG?? Maybe that poster should really think about starting it up. I can imagine that a lot of citizens and business owners would quickly join.
seedling: "Eagleone...you talk too much."

Agreed. It's amazing the someone can write so much about so little.

Today is a just a Great Day
Due to the current financial situation caused by the slowdown in the
economy, Canadian Government has decided to implement a scheme to put
workers of 50 years of age and above on early retirement, thus creating
jobs and reducing unemployment.
This scheme will be known as RAPE (Retire Aged People Early).
Persons selected to be RAPED can apply to Canadian Government to be
considered for the SHAFT program (Special Help after Forced Termination).
Persons who have been RAPED and SHAFTED will be reviewed under the SCREW
program (System Covering Retired-Early Workers).
A person may be RAPED once, SHAFTED twice and SCREWED as many times as
Canadian Government deems appropriate.
Persons who have been RAPED could get AIDS (Additional Income for
Dependants & Spouse) or HERPES (Half Earnings for Retired Personnel Early Severance).
Obviously persons who have AIDS or HERPES will not be SHAFTED or SCREWED
any further by Canadian Government.
Persons who are not RAPED and are staying on will receive as much SHIT
(Special High Intensity Training) as possible. Canadian Government has
always prided themselves on the amount of SHIT they give our citizens.
Should you feel that you do not receive enough SHIT, please bring this
to the attention of your MLA'S, who has been trained to give you
all the SHIT you can handle.

Sincerely, The Committee for Economic Value of Individual Lives (E.V.I.L.)
Roflmaooo...OMG LOKI you ROCK GIRL!
Whenever the budgeting process is done for the city I don't know why the people running the show don't give incentives for a department being under budget. For instance, if the snow budget comes in less than budget give the supervisor and workers a certain percentage of the excess. That way we wouldn't have all this waste of money as we have now with them trying to use more of the budget by removing snow when it is melting.

I live in an area with ditches and Wednesday there was a backhoe digging out the ditch so the water could run. I have no problem with that, it was with the pickup truck sitting there with the lights flashing and a person sitting in the truck listening to the radio. The tractor had its revolving amber lights going as well, so this seemed like a huge waste to me. My street is not used much by anyone so why did we need the truck and other person there?
Rodgers is gonna be a 1 term fella, then he can go back to cross dressing!
I will carry my camera to watch for these city workers, taking the puppies for walks, others should do the same.Ever try to apply for a job with the city,ya gotta be,related to some one ,or know some 1,2,3,ppl.
zyblxteu I agree with you....

You've gotta be related to someone in order to get a job with the city or know a bunch of people who work there.

Pretty sad... I know some people who used to work at the plywood plant NCP and they applied when they lost their jobs. They were told nothing was available.

Then at the same time there were other people who got hired (when there was apparently nothing available).
Hey Eagle don't listen to those who think you are too long winded, their attention spans may be short. I don't blame them, it is not their fault. We have the invention of the micro chip and the continuously festering sore that is television to blame for a nation's A.D.D. Carry on.
Although I may not see the potential for conspiracy in the push to change our national anthem, I strongly agree that
'Oh Canada' should not be altered. It is hard to instill patriotism and national pride in your people when you keep changing that which they hold dear, heck, first we ditch "the Maple Leaf Forever', then we turf the dear old Red Ensign, what's next. I do not jest, this is a serious topic, for those who do not remember the past will have no future.
Canada would benefit if collectively we demonstrated patriotism like that shown by so many Americans.
metalman.
Any comments on the stuff going on at ICBC? It seems that ICBC wanted to give rebates to better drivers, but the government said no. And in the budget this week, the Liberals actually took the extra funds that ICBC had collected and applied them to the budget. It seems that good drivers just got taxed without knowing it.

For more info, see Vaughn Palmer's article in the Vancouver Sun today
I took my business away from ICBC a long time ago... the optional insurance anyway. If I could take the rest away, I would.
Hi everyone. Perhaps a few comments from this City worker are in order. First of all, we, like most working people, are told what to do and expected to do it. We might be in control of what we are running, but don't have the freedom to just go where we want. We are told what area to work.
When Ben talks about the City, he makes sure that the listeners know this. And yes, if a worker is slacking, im sure he would mention this also.
So, lets gets to this weeks anti-City comments and perhaps some answers for you.
TAXI
I used to enjoy reading your comments but it is hard to put a read on wondering if your anti-City or anti-City worker. To answer your comment about Feb. 24th. We are between seasons(We hope)and this is a really great time to train. The loader operator was training and a trainer was in the pickup, from what I understand, giving instruction by radio. It was a great way to train without the stress of traffic never giving you a break. Learn how to run the loader, then learn how to deal with traffic. So is training a waste of tax dollars?
About the camera thing. Perhaps when I get to work nights again, taking pics of the the things taxi drivers do or partake or see in would really open many of the readers eyes. I would never really do it because driving a Taxi is like any other job. A few bad ones spoil it for the good ones
ACRIDER
The reason we drive with our strobes on is that we are overwidth with the wings and belly plows on our trucks and our permit for being overwidth mandates this. Yes, even if we are not using them.
CHEETA
In the spring, we and YRB wing all the snow off the side of the roads so that during the freeze thaw cycle that happens, there is no chance of that snow weeping water on the road. That gives the road a chance to dry up and have less potholes(dare I mention that here)and not be slippery during a melt.
DUFFER
The person in the truck is an "actual"ditch digger. Their job is to find culvert ends so the backhoe operator doesn't crush or dig them up. They use an instrument called an "m scope" to find the culvert for the backhoe and then their job is to go find the ends the old fashioned way, with a spade. Most of us have done this job. We can laugh as we all know what it feels like to break through the ice and "get a bootfull"
NEWTECHIE
That was years ago. I didn't know any one that could influnce my hiring and I was hired. Funny though, I know a former NCP employee that now works for the City.

For TAXI
We are just workers there trying to make a living like anyone else. We do the best we can do. And yes, I have done your job, so I understand the hazards and crap you have to live, perhaps with these posts, you can understand mine
JLS
Actor Michael J. Fox named honorary doctor in Sweden for Parkinson's awareness work.
msn.com

That is a good news story!
JLS good post. Mr. PG ICBC was trying to give the money but your Fiberal buds just gave us another tax.
Thanks for the post, JLS. Sometimes we need a reminder that we should be walking that proverbial mile before we let off steam.
Seamutt, don't forget that taxes pay for those government services you and your NDP buddies rely on so heavily.
Good post JLS. There's always two sides to every story.
Eagleone, re: zionist plot; well written, thoughtful, lots of work.

My review: crap...

Can't think of anything else...

Oh yeah, put that energy into something more productive for society.
"In the spring, we and YRB wing all the snow off the side of the roads so that during the freeze thaw cycle that happens, there is no chance of that snow weeping water on the road"

An interesting commnent.

Roads should be designed and built with a crown in the centre of the road with a curb at the edge to gather the water. Catch basins for the storm water are located at the edge of the road. That is where the water should be gathering and, other than at intersections and some low spots that are at best of times difficult, does gather.

It is easy to see where the majority of potholes actually occur by just driving down the street. Most, especially recently, occur at longitudinal construction joints of one paving run adjacent to another. The joint has too often ended up being a cold joint that not only lets the surface water to penetrate there carried by vehicles and from melting snow and ice that has not been removed by snow clearing efforts, but also is located where the paved surface receives the most traffic.

Do a better job during the winter and its vasrious thaw cycles. The side of the road stuff is, with a few exception, a bunch of BS.

Think, people!!!!! God has given you a wonderful instrument many people do not use often enough.

BTW, there are generally many more than two sides to a story ..... some say at least three.... I say many more than that.
