Fine work RCMP.. stabbed to death and you think it just may be a homicide.. I have heard of these officers called detectives.. may want to get one or two of these on the PG force to help out with these confusing situations....
'Possible' homicide!
While walking along the level road he fell on a stick, several times?
Possible homicide...stabbed to death, and it is a possible homicide?
It sure as hell isn't suicide or accidental!
While we're all having a good laugh at someone's demise, according to the news I heard on the radio, the cop on the phone didn't use the word 'possible'.
lol@possible yup i guess he tripped and fell on the knife
The Coroner and the forensic pathologist are the ones who legally determine the cause of death and if it is a homicide. There is nothing wrong with the police "treating it as a homicide" until the examination is done. In fact it is the proper thing to do. Sometimes I just can't believe the content of the posts on this site.
Seppuku?
metalman.
re:lmorge

You are absolutely right. There are legal ways to go about announcing things and this is just one of them.

How bout we all just wait and see what happened? Jumping the gun, conclusions, etc. Imorge, I agree, the level of intelligence diminishes greatly with very little information.
"Seppuku?"

Very good. I had to look that up.
I'm really starting to wonder if our overlords have considered a national registry for sharp objects?
Imorge : sorry but you sound like a cop out to defend anything the 'yellow stripes' do. Please read the article carefully.
Okay, let me read the words carefully.

"It is believed that he had been stabbed to death. Police are treating the death as a possible homicide."

The first sentence is the difficult one for non-objective people do deal with. There are two key thoughts in it.....

they believe he was stabbed

they believe that the stabs were mortal.

Due to the english sentence structure it is not known whether they meant to say, for instance, they know he was stabbed but they do not know that the wounds were mortal.

Let us assume that they believe both but are not sure of either one.

The wounds may not be from a stabbing. Since I have not seen the wounds they could be from a hacking, rather than a stabbing, for instance. As someone said, it is the coroner who will have to make the determination.

While the stabbing might be obvious, the cause of death may not be. The person may have died from other causes. The stabbings may have been non life threatening.

I know ... I watch too many CSI episodes ... :-)
Gus,

Your right, I cant believe the amount of dim wit posts to this story.

Who really cares what the statement is? There are no quotes in the story, simple wording from a simple reporter, vague, no commitment to anything.

What is the important part? That a dead body was found on a local road. Funny there isn't much talk of that, only dimwit attempts at humor.
It is called black humour. Often used by emergency workers (paid or volunteer) to deal with the stress and horror of emergency situations.
No, it is not generally acceptable.
No, the general public does not understand.
No, it is not really funny or humourous
It is merely an outlet, and sometimes we forget that the general public is thin skinned.

It is a stress release mechanism. Would you rather that these feelings be contained inside?
Loki, I don't think that the general public is thin skinned, rather it is disgusting how people on this site continue to pick apart a story, must be nice to be perfect like them, and then to pick at the person that is dead and to treat this death like nothing more than a ant stepped on without the steppers knowledge!!

it is very sad how we as a "civilized society" takes human life forgranted, and that we don't stop to think that by chance this individuals family/friends may be reading these posts and making light of how the came to pass.

some people on this site really really need to grow the $^@$% up!!
a rephrase them: sometimes we as emergency workers forget that the general public should not be exposed to this behavior.
Loki,

Here is what is stupid about most of the comments, they take the wording of the story and pick apart the RCMP.

Where are the quotes from the RCMP?

All we have is a lazy 40 word statement from an unnamed reporter. The key words were 'beleived" and "possible" and people knock the police and the victim for this? Go after the reporter, not the emergency workers at the scene.
Stompin, I'm sure you're well aware that there are quite a few people on this site who look for any opportunity to pick apart the RCMP, justified or not.
