Cancer survivors take the first lap at the  24 hour relay for life at Masich Place Stadium

Prince George, B.C.- There are fewer registered participants this year,  but the annual Relay for Life is off and walking, running, strolling and wheeling.

The 24 hour event  is a major  fundraiser for  Cancer research.  Margaret Jones-Bricker of the Canadian Cancer Society says there are  about 1600 registered participants this year, down from the normal 2,000.  The number of survivors taking part in the opening lap remains about the same, with 100  registered for the  official start off to the  24 hour relay.

Last year, the 24 hour event raised  $450 thousand dollars.

We need to support everyone walking. I can't get to the walk but have backed all my family who is.
