I would think that despite the fact that there might be causes for doing so, that "failing to yield right-of-way" is the case 100% of the time. The others are just excuses why the right-of-way was not yielded by one or more of the parties.
maybe they should redesign the roads a bit better and we all know this is just icbc trying to scam us for more money
No, I think that the police and icky bicky truly believe that they are doing all the right things, even if some of their actions defy logic at times.
I kind of miss the days when ICBC was just the people's insurance company, and not the second* most powerful arm of the provincial government.
*my guess, maybe they are only the third most powerful.

Could the police concentrate their efforts at finding the men who attacked two women in the last two months in this city? One was unrecognisable she was beaten so badly. I want to feel safe again!
If they want to hand out tickets, then they should sit at 5th and Ospika. Most of the vehicles that come out of the cop shop turn east down 5th.They are crossing a solid double line.
My main issue at intersections is not enough warning when the light is going to change. I find when approaching an intersection I am watching the light more than traffic. In Europe the light will go green, flashing yellow, steady yellow then red. The lights give one more warning there.

Have a look at Domano and 16 for example. Going west a lot of skid marks, no warning light. Going east there is a warning light before the intersection and no skid marks. Also with the warning light I am given a chance to scan the intersection.

I tried to discuss this with someone in the highways dept., and was not very impressed.

How do others feel about more warning of a light change at intersections?
1. Failing to Yield Right-of-Way
2. Ignoring Traffic Control
3. Speeding
4. Driver Inattentiveness
5. Driver Error/Confusion

In other words ... quit driving on auto-pilot while multi-tasking (phone, radio adjustment, coffee drinking, primping in the mirror, etc.) and leave your bad attitude at home (you know the one - I'm in a hurry, the rules don't apply to me, I'm going to police the flow of traffic and invite aggression, etc.)

imo - if you follow the logic that an intersection is where vehicles encounter other vehicles or pedestrians who also want right-of-way, thus there is going to be a conflict which could leave you dead right or cost you 3 to 5 minutes of your time, your choice.
Today going downtown at every intersection between 5th and hyway 16 someone going through the intersection talking on a cell phone!!!!!! Just thought I would keep a eye open and count them. One was texting also
What about at an intersection when an RCMP is in line behind someone who is obviously holding their cell and talking, and then not pull them over!! Have the police been given the memo about cell phone use?
A colleague recently pulled up to a stop light at 15th and the bypass, next to a police car, glanced over, noticed the officer was talking on a handheld cell phone. They paced each other all the way downtown, all the way the upholder of the law was chatting away on the cell phone.
How's that for equality?

We just spent how many millions on rebuilding Domano and 16 to make it safe and it's still on the list? LMAO!
