Drug Bust In McBride

McBride – RCMP have busted a growop on Mountainview Rd in the McBride rural area.
 
On the evening of June 19th 2010, Members of the McBride RCMP Detachment responding to a suspicious occurrence received information allowing Members to further an ongoing investigation into a possible Marijuana Grow Operation at that address. After entering the property, the Members on scene arrested one male and held him at the McBride RCMP Detachment while the investigation continued.
 
Sufficient evidence was gathered while the Members were at scene to obtain a Search Warrant to search the residence. 
 
Police from Valemount and McBride found a well established Marijuana Grow Operation located inside the residence run by a complex and ultimately dangerous electrical system. BC Hydro was on hand to make the scene safe for the Members to collect the evidence inside and to dismantle the Grow Operation.
 
Approximately 1000 Marijuana plants were located inside the residence in varying stages of production. The 47 year old male who was arrested at the scene was from the Lower Mainland and was released on a Promise to appear with two proposed charges - 1 charge of Production of a Controlled Substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and 1 charge of Theft under $5000 under the Criminal Code. This file is Still under Investigation for the possibility of other charges against other people.
 
This is the third such investigation this year for the Detachment with 2 other Marijuana grow operations having been dismantled in the Dome Creek area at the end of March.
