Cst Sheremetta Back in the News

Kamloops, B.C. - RCMP Constable Ryan Sheremetta has been charged with one (1) count of assault, stemming from an incident in Kamloops on March 7, 2010. Cst. Ryan Sheremetta, a member with seven (7) years service at the time, was off duty when it is alleged that he punched another male during a street altercation at bar closing time.
Statutory and Code of Conduct investigations were conducted by the Kamloops RCMP Professional Standards unit. The results of the statutory investigation were forwarded to Crown Counsel with a charge of assault having now been laid.
Cst. Sheremetta will make his first court appearance on July 29, 2010, at Kamloops Provincial Court to answer to the charge.
Cst. Sheremetta’s duty status was reviewed pursuant to the charge being approved and he has been re-assigned to administrative duties.
Cst. Sheremetta is also subject to an internal RCMP disciplinary investigation.
You may recall Constable Sheremetta's name being in the news before as he was the officer who fired the shots which killed Kevin St. Arnaud in a snowy soccerfield in Vanderhoof in December of 2004.
