Prince George, B.C. - Initiatives Prince George  has joined the Prince George Airport Authority, the Port of Prince Rupert, and CN Rail, in introducing the Northern BC Exporter Award which will beawarded at this year’s BC Export Awards.

Each year, the BC Export Awards identify top exporters in the province, honouring them for excellence and achievement. Presented by The Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) BC Division and the Ministry of Small Business, Technology and Economic Development, the Awards Gala is the oldest ceremony of its kind in Canada and will be held in Vancouver, November 19.

In the lead-up to the Awards Gala the top 25 exporters in eight categories are profiled broadly, and this year an additional five from Northern BC will join the ranks.

The goals of the BC Export Awards are to:
·        Increase awareness amongst British Columbians of the important role that exporting makes to the provincial economy.
·        Identify and reward British Columbia's most successful and innovative exporters
·        Promote BC's top 25 exporters as corporate role models in order to stimulate greater involvement in exporting amongst the province's business community
·        Further develop community awareness of the importance of exporting to the province's economic future

In years past there has been strong nominee representation from the southern half of the province, with little representation from Northern BC. IPG and its partners recommended the new award to showcase the exporting strength of companies that are exporting products or services from a primary manufacturing site in Northern BC.

“CME (Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters) is committed to working with our new partners to ensure we have a broader reach across the province and that Northern BC exporters are recognized as an integral part of the exporting industry in BC,” said Craig Williams, Vice President, Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters.

“The purpose of the Awards is strategically aligned with those of IPG and our partners, we are pleased to profile the importance of exporting and showcase our leading companies in the region,” said Katherine Scouten, Vice President Economic Development for Initiatives Prince George.

The nomination deadline for the Northern BC Exporter is July 20th. Anyone interested in nominating a Northern BC exporter can call IPG directly at 250-564-0282 to submit a nomination or obtain more information.

I got an idea,

We go into the bush, cut down the dead pine, cut the round parts off the log, dry it, then run it thru the planer, wrap it and then put it in the shipping containers.

That has got to win us an award.
It wouldn't work here in BC He Spoke. Here in BC the businesses that are up for the awards close their mills and export jobs to other countries. These awards are mostly for the ingenuity of the companies showing how to export jobs with the logs etc with the blessing of our gov't, then import products back to BC that cost these companies very little only to charge all British Columbians ridiculous prices for these products that for the most part are produced elswhere for peanuts. The Made in China brand will flourish around the world because its very profitable.
Its all good though as long as the companies rake in the profits.
" new award to showcase the exporting strength of companies that are exporting products or services from a primary manufacturing site in Northern BC." notice primary manufacturing above, goes alomg with what Dragonmaster says. The next award will go to Enbridge for shipping our raw oil out.
Yahooo, we are gonna build the pipeline
If we are going to build the pipeline, then South Korea can give their export award to the company that manufactured the pipe and shipped it here.

Enbridge will be shipping jobs out of the province and the country before the oil even flows.
