New Evacuation Order Issued For Tsacha Lake

Cariboo Chilcotin, BC – The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) has issued an expanded evacuation order and an evacuation alert for the Tsacha Lake (sash-a) area as a result of the current wildfire activity.
Evacuation Order
The evacuation order area starts at the northwest corner of Tsacha Lake, running west to the Regional District of Fraser Fort George and CRD Boundary, and then south along the CRD boundary to the north boundary of Electoral Area J. The boundary then travels west past the Blackwater Ranch boundary, south to midway point of Tsilbekuz Lake (sil-bey-cooz), east to a point directly south of the starting point and then north to close the evacuation order area.
Evacuation Alert
As a result of this wildfire, the Cariboo Regional District has issued an Evacuation Alert for the following areas:
Area 1: An area starting on the west side of the Tsacha Lake evacuation order, running west along the northern boundary of Electoral Area ‘J’ for approximately 8.5 km, south for 5 km, then back east and north to close the rectangular boundary.
Area 2: An area starting on the south side of Tsacha Lake on the eastern border of the Tsacha Lake evacuation order, running north east along the lakes bank for approximately 5km, then due east for 2km, south to the northern boundary of Electoral Area ‘J’ back to the order boundary.
Residents residing within an evacuation alert area should keep the following tips in mind that will help them be prepared to leave quickly if there is a need to change the alert back to an order;
- Locate all family members or co-workers and arrange a place to meet outside the evacuation area.
- Gather essential items such as medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers (i.e. insurance), immediate care needs for dependants and, if you choose, keepsakes (photographs, etc.), and have these items available for quick departure.
- Be ready to evacuate any family members with special needs or children.
- Make arrangements or move pets and livestock to a safe area.
- Make transportation arrangements for household members in the event of an Order. If you need transportation assistance from the area please call the CRD’s Emergency Operations Centre at 250- 392-4283.
- Arrange accommodations for your family if possible. In the event of an evacuation, Emergency Social Services (ESS) Reception Centres will be opened if required.
- Listen to local news sources for information on evacuation orders and locations of ESS Reception Centres.
