Poor Air Impacts WL Hospital

Williams Lake, B.C. - Cariboo Memorial Hospital is locking its Emergency Entrance and Main Entrance doors in a bid to limit visitors and maintain air quality within the hospital.
In a news release, Interior Health says the hospital is limiting visitors and all non-urgent access until further notice due to the smoky conditions in Williams Lake. "All elective surgeries are now postponed until further notice. Patients are being contacted directly."
The Health Authority is asking residents not to come to the hospital unless they have an emergency or urgent previously scheduled appointment. "The air inside the hospital is being impacted by the smoke outside, causing the hospital to turn off external fans and keep all doors and windows closed as much as possible."
Access to the hospital will now be gained through the side door adjacent to the parking lot.
Interior Health says health officials are currently assessing patient and client needs in Williams Lake, and are monitoring the smoke and fire situation closely.
