Prince George, B.C.- Over the lunch hour today,  Prince George RCMP were called to a  residence in the 500 block of Alward Street to a complaint of a male making threats with a knife.

By the time police arrived, the  suspect, who was known to the 20 year old victim, had left the scene.  The suspect was spotted running towards 5th Avenue.Police set up a perimeter and called in Police Service Dog "Nak" to  help  locate the suspect.

Nak (shown in photo at right) located a suspect  in the Wainwright  area and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.   Police couldn't find a  weapon on the suspect at the time of the arrest,  so Nak put his nose to work and located a

6 inch blade hunting knife in a nearby bush.  ( knife shown in photo at right)

An 18 yr old male, known to police, is being held for court regarding weapons charges and Uttering Threats .

Police do not believe the incident was gang or drug related but rather a dispute between 2 males that escalated during a conversation via text message.

Hey Nak, good job! Don't know who your handler is, but reminds me of Doug Wiebe from many years ago. Well done for both of you, hope you sent him to PGRH for stitches.
Good job Nak!!!
Moral of the story could be if you're planning to make lunch time threats then it might be smart to carry a ham bone in your pocket for the nice dog....
Nice work considering there is usually a lot of foot traffic during the lunch hour.

"NAK" - odd name - looked it up in the database - interesting.

Real full name is "Nakkernabber".

Kinda fits - nice puppy.
