Prince George, B.C.- The monthly economic update for Prince George shows continued positive signs even though the unemployment rate increased by 2% to 9.3% in July. “Typically we see a slight increase in July as more people enter the workforce” says Kathy Scouten, Vice President of Economic Development for Initiatives Prince George
.
The monthly report from Initiatives Prince George  notes    that while sales of homes were down from July of 2009, (56 sales last month compared to 93 in July of ’09)  the year-to date average price of a single family home in the city was up 6.0% compared to the same period last year, and up 1.0% over the period in 2008.

Scouten says there was also some positive news in airport passenger volumes with nearly 63 thousand passengers passing through the Prince George Airport in June and July, a 6.6% increase over the same period in 2009. Year to date traffic was up 5.6% at the end of July compared to the first seven months of last year.

“Our housing prices remain strong, up 6% year over year” says Scouten who adds the number and value of building permits are also much higher than last year at this time. “It looks good, all sectors seem fairly balanced.”
Scouten says the information is another tool that will be used when an Initiatives Prince George  delegation heads to China next week to try and attract more foreign investment in the region.

another useless article.
This is wonderful news IPG. Seems we have lots os experts to tell us all about the economy. It would be even better if they new how to fix it which apparently is supposed to be one of their functions. Two million per year for what purpose

On a more serious subject . Gus told us a few days back that he would gone for a short time . But this never happened. One can never tell where Gus is going. But here is a fact that I will be gone until Sept 10, 2010. I know you will all be wondering where I have gone so here is the scoop.

Will be leaving for Vancouver by BUS in the morning. I am to old and have never gotten used to aircraft and besides I think that they are dangerous . I know you will all be waiting for my return so wish me luck and until we meet again.
Cheers
Here is is a useless article: "the"
I was gone.... to Kamloops..... they have internet access in Kamloops now ... very progressive .... :-)

In a few weeks I will be flying to Vancouver for a few days. They have internet access there too. :-)

But, if you wish me to leave, I can do that and come back as someone else .... :-)
BTW ..... I might be in Halifax right now ..... one never knows .... :-)

Internet presence is virtual. One can be virtually anywhere ..... LOL ...
Here is is a useless article: "the"

What does that mean? Are youm talking about grammer or something else? Please explain.

Your are a mover Gus.

But I thought you had already come back as someone else!

I dont have a laptop but then it would seem to pretentious to boaard a bus with a laptop.

And I almost forgot, relax Mr Bates I will not torment you for the next 10 days
Cheers
Sure go to China, say we want your business. Then when they come here, we tell them, were just not quite ready yet.

How many times is this dog and pony show are you going to do.

If you go there to sell, you better be able to deliver, otherwise stop going there and giving us a bad reputation of just a bunch of talkers.
Yes. I am speaking grammatically. Since nouns have no genders, the article in English is redundant from my point of view. :-)

Close door. Door is closed. Day is long.

Wonder how many have been here as more than one pen name ... or 2 or 3 or 4 for that matter. Of course, in talking to you I am talking to the converted ... LOL
up 6% year over year
so if this rate of growth is maintained
prices will double every 11.6 years
so a $250,000 house will cost $500,000
in 2021 and $1,000,000 in 2032
that does not sound good to me
It does not. Luckily we have years like 1981 when prices fall. As long as they fall across the province, that is fine.
