PGSO Makes Lemonade

It may have looked bleaked at the bandshell, but concert goers were cozy inside
Prince George. B.C. - The PGSO's ever-popular 'Pops in the Park' was to have taken place in Fort George Park rain or shine this afternoon...
However, there was just a little too much rain. City residents were prepared to ride it out, arriving with umbrellas in-hand. But the Prince George Symphony Orchestra quickly made lemonade out of the sour weather, informing those pulling up to park that the free season-opening concert had shifted to St. Michael's Anglican Church on Victoria Street.
And it was definitely a full house, with people continuing to stream in after the concert had started. The pews were full both upstairs and down, and extra chairs had to be brought in.
The crowd was treated to a number of pop medleys, including Michael Jackson's Beat It and the theme from the Pink Panther.
On stage with the orchestra's professional members today, were a number of local students, taking part in the PGSO's 'Side by side' program, which aims to foster their keen musical ability.

This season is a milestone for the PGSO, as it marks 40 years. The next concert is October 2nd at Vanier Hall.
